A Right to Life team member spoke with Michael, a prominent community member, on our latest episode of “Life Update” on WUBS. Michael shared the story of his mother’s heroic faith through a difficult pregnancy.

“On my last birthday, I was reminded that I almost wasn’t here,” he said. “My mom had complications back when medical technology wasn’t what it is today. They couldn’t find a heartbeat and the doctor said, “I think the baby is dead. So, we might as well ‘take’ the baby.’”

He continued, “My mom was a praying woman, and she defied the doctors’ orders. She said, ‘You’re not taking my baby. If God doesn’t want the baby here, then He’ll take care of it.’”

Michael’s mother kept praying that he kept growing. Nine months came without a birth. Over a month later when she finally went into labor, the doctors were amazed at the miracle of the healthy new child born into the world. 

“I thank my mom that she chose life and didn’t abort me, or we wouldn’t be talking here now. God wouldn’t have used me to touch lives. And I’m a father myself now.”

Reflecting on his mother’s courageous stand, he said, “Some would say she had every right to choose abortion, but she was a praying woman and chose to trust God instead.”

“When people ask me what I think about abortion, I say to always choose life because your mom did. Your mom chose life, so do that same favor for your child.”

The courageous choice of Michael’s mother kept on bearing fruit many years later, as he shared her powerful witness with thousands of listeners over the air waves on “Life Update” with Right to Life Michiana this month!
