Glancing down at her phone, a staff member at Right to Life saw a text that read:

“I need your help. One of my friends is caught up in the idea that women’s rights are being taken away. If it’s a life-or-death situation for the mom, does she still have the right to live?”

 

Just a few weeks prior, Mary—a local nurse and trusted advocate—had sent us an article she felt compelled to write. Her article addressed the confusion surrounding abortion bans and life-saving care, providing a clear definition of abortion and explaining that abortion bans do not limit essential services like miscarriage care or treatment for ectopic pregnancies.

 

Because of the wisdom Mary shared, we were able to respond to the question without missing a beat.

“Thank you!” the next text read. “I just know how the media can flip things and make people afraid. I’d rather be equipped with truth and knowledge when going into these discussions.”

 

Later that day, our office received a call: “My family is saying that women cannot get treated for ectopic pregnancies or miscarriages in Indiana. Do you have any information on this?”

 

Once again, we connected the caller with Mary’s truthful, compassionate, and medically accurate guidance to set the record straight.
