Nancy Jo Benjamin Essay Scholarship

Nancy Jo was a devoted mom, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She worked at the University of Notre Dame for decades, but her family was always her first priority.  She loved afternoon walks on Notre Dame's campus with them, family trips, swimming, sledding, and playing in the backyard.

Nancy's daughter, Jackie, recalls how sharing baby save stories from the abortion clinic with Nancy Jo always made her day.

Her legacy of life and love lives on in our Nancy Jo Benjamin Essay Scholarship.

The scholarship cultivates pro-life leadership at a young age by encouraging students to articulate pro-life truth with compassion. The contest gives students the chance to practice expressing their beliefs and think critically about the real-life consequences that stem from a disregard for the value of human life.

Our 2021 prompt asks:

"Why is it inaccurate to call abortion "essential healthcare"? How can we challenge the abortion industry's narrative that abortion is healthcare?
