Executive Director

The Executive Director (ED) is responsible for the implementation of the organization's mission, policies, and programs on a day-to-day basis. Under the general supervision of the Board, and reporting to the Board President, the ED will oversee all managerial and administrative duties relating to Right to Life Michiana, Inc. and Right to Life Michiana Education Fund, Inc.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Attend monthly Board meetings and report on all activities of the staff and the organization in general.

  • Recruit, train, and oversee all volunteers.

  • Recruit, hire, train, oversee, evaluate and, if necessary, dismiss all paid staff members.

  • Determine the duties and responsibilities of all paid staff members.

  • Periodically conduct strategic planning to develop projects and programs which identify and respond to opportunities in carrying out the organization's mission. 

  • Promote organizational identify.

  • Coordinate and evaluate all programs.

  • Work with the Board, staff, and volunteers to coordinate and direct all annual and special events and projects to assure optimum effort and outcome.

  • Coordinate the organization's efforts regarding those programs undertaken in conjunction with Indiana Right to Life or any other pro-life organizations within or outside of St. Joseph County.

  • Serve as the primary media spokesperson for the organization. 

  • Serve as the primary contact for the organization's members and the community at large. 

  • Serve as the primary contact for city, state and county officials to ensure compliance with all applicable laws and standards as they apply to the operation and activities of the organization. 

  • Work with the Board President and Finance Committee to prepare an annual budget, keep Board advised of financial needs, and supervise purchases and operations within the established budget.

  • Develop, plan and coordinate all fund raising events.

  • Develop potential new donors and cultivate existing donors. 

  • Work with the Board to identify, recruit and challenge community leaders to become more involved in the organization and pro-life efforts.

  • Establish and maintain a network of church liaisons to represent the interests of the organization with individual congregations.

  • Work to obtain favorable publicity with all local media.

  • Work to develop and oversee all educational efforts of the organization.

  • Coordinate the development of all educational and promotional materials produced by the organization to support its programs.

  • Maintain a basic, current knowledge of all pertinent life issues.

  • Perform any other duties required to achieve the goals of the organization.

Note: Any of the above duties can be delegated to staff members or volunteers as the ED sees fit; however, the responsibility for these duties remains with the ED. 

Office Manager

Right to Life Michiana is seeking an Office Manager that is personable, self-motivated team player with great attention to detail. The Office Manager is responsible for office management, oversee financials, & assist with event registration.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Office Management and Record Keeping-

  • Monitor, file, and respond to mail, email, and phone calls. Greet walk-ins.

  • Organize and maintain all files, records, lists, and archives, both paper and digital.

  • Maintain donor database; ensure regular schedule of backups, compacting, synching with email system; run regular report checks for unfulfilled member pledges, unacknowledged donations, inconsistent donor information; prepare donor thank you letters weekly and tax receipts annually.

  • Use and maintain office equipment, and supervise use of outside suppliers and services.

  • Coordinate, monitor, and evaluate vendors and service providers regularly.

  • Maintain stock and inventory of office supplies and educational materials.

  • Maintain library, including lending procedures.

  • Administer online accounts. Download and install software updates as needed, update password security, etc.

  • Coordinate mailings.

  • Ensure that the office is neat, clean, organized, and maintained. 

  • Recruit, train, and oversee office volunteers for jobs such as receptionist, mailings, office cleaning/repairs, archiving/filing, data entry, assisting with events, etc. 

  • Maintain and update Office Procedures Manual as needed. 

Oversee Finances-

  • Pay bills and monitor invoices for increases and overcharges.

  • Make deposits and maintain bank and investment accounts. 

  • Monitor/ maintain/control all financials, such as budgets, expenses, invoice payments, etc. 

  • Maintain electronic financial records (eg, Quickbooks, database), generate reports as needed.

  • Crosscheck financial/database systems (DonorPerfect, Quickbooks, Bank Statements) to ensure accurate balances. 

  • Maintain required corporate and tax records, and ensure that all state and federal requirements are fulfilled. 

  • Work with accountant, finance committee, and board treasurer on taxes and reports, including budget monitoring and expense/income reports on all projects. 

  • Prepare financial reports for finance committee and auditors. 

  • Work with accountant to oversee payroll system. 

Assist with Events/Projects/Activities-

  • Assist with sidewalk outreach as needed, including maintaining Sidewalk Outreach Kit

  • Prepare/attend/support organization events

  • Notify board members of monthly meetings by phone (attendance at board meetings not required).

  • Coordinate electronic filing and data entry for projects/events/activities (Excel, Office, DonorPerfect, GiveSmart). Collaborate with the Program Manager, and double check registrations to ensure data integrity. 

Note: The Office Manager is not solely responsible for projects, events, or committees, but will have specific duties related to them as determined by the director.

Other Information:

Full time, Monday - Friday with few nights and weekends

Starting salary range $33,000
